Singing for Fun

NOEL offers Singing for Fun sessions for children of all ages. The groups are led by one of our skilled musical animateurs with the children developing musicianship skills through singing and musical games.

If you are interested in setting up Singing for Fun sessions within your school or local community, please contact the NOEL office. For details of the Singing for Fun groups currently running, please see the ‘latest news’ section.

Our annual Singing for Fun Festival, begun in 2007, invites pupils aged 4 – 11 years to share their singing efforts and achievements as part of an exciting and rewarding large-scale workshop and performance. The festival provides singing groups of all standards with the opportunity to perform and be audience to a wide variety of repertoire from traditional songs from around the world, to well-known shows tunes and pop music! The festival usually takes place over two days and is held at the Victoria Theatre in Halifax at the end of the Summer term.

About NOEL

Northern Orchestral Enterprises Ltd (NOEL) is a non-profit organisation committed to providing music-based activities and opportunities for all to enjoy and appreciate, whatever their age or level. Formed in 1996 by John Pryce-Jones & Barry Collarbone and based at Dean Clough in Halifax, NOEL is passionate about music as a unique form of communication with intellectual, social and physical benefits!

Our projects, run on the principles taught by Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály, include a series of workshops to help teachers and musicians bring this accessible and enjoyable form of methodology into their classrooms, choirs and communities.

NOEL is reliant on funding from an annual, but by no means guaranteed, grant from West Yorkshire Grants as well as a matrix of sponsorship and donations from the business community, private trusts and charities.
