Following the success of our summer Singing for Fun Festival for primary school children we are holding a Singing for Fun at Christmas Festival on 27 November 2008 at Halifax Parish Church, all welcome. This event is kindly sponsored by the Halifax Parish Church and entry to the performance is free! 

Yorkshire Youth Choir Auditions - if you or someone you know aged 10-21 would like to join this excellent county choir then download an application form from the YYC section of this website now! Auditions take place on 25 January at West Park, Leeds LS16 5BE  

The Yorkshire Youth Choir's as above auditions for new members take place in January, the Spring course venue has changed and the course from 13-18 April will take place at Queen Ethelburga's College near York, the college has excellent facilities but no performance venue so the end of course performance is at the Halifax Parish Church at 7.30 18 April - the choir will be coached (with luggage) from Queen Ethelburga's in the morning for rehearsals at the church. 

EDUCATION Our 6 day Intensive Courses for Music Practitioners and Primary School Teachers (one session each half term) led by Judith Brindle based on the Kodály Concept continue; we are running two more courses, one in Grimsby and one in North Yorkshire during this academic year. Our in-school/community programmes for Focus on Singing, Composition in the Classroom, Music Making and many more continue to be very popular. If your school/group want to experience these fantastic sessions then please get in touch. Workshops available for all age groups from cradle to grave! We advocate a programme of sustainability and encourage teachers/group leaders to also participate and learn.

NOEL's Singing for Fun scheme is expanding rapidly. We now run schemes for all ages; in the workplace or in the community.  sessions include lots of singing obviously, but also movement to help with posture, breathing and general health. Singing is ideal for uplifting the soul! Contact us for more details. 

Singing for Fun sessions for 4-11 year olds operate in and out of schools throughout Yorkshire during term time and sessions are based on introducing singing and musicianship skills through musical games and song using the Kodály concept. If you would like your child, group or school to be involved, give us a call.

7 December 2008 -  North of England Chamber Orchestra in Handel's Messiah, Victoria Theatre, Halifax - 7.30pm, our own professional orchestra performs alongside The Halifax Choral Society.  

25 January 2009 - Yorkshire Youth Choir Auditions, West Park, Leeds LS16 5BE  download an application form from the YYC section of this website - aimed at 10-21 years olds we are looking for potential and enthusiasm as much as experience.

13-18 April 2009 - Yorkshire Youth Choir residential course, Queen Ethelburga's College, York YO26 9SS, YYC members only

15 April 2009 - Singing for Fun Day for Yorkshire singers aged 8-13 years, Queen Ethelburga's College, York YO26 9SS, a chance for young singers to come along and spend a day singing, playing musical games and seeing and hearing the Yorkshire Youth Choir in rehearsals - all welcome for a fun day of musical activity.

18 April 2009 - Yorkshire Youth Choir concert, Halifax Parish Church, HX1 1QL - 7.30pm

8-9 July 2009 - Singing for Fun Festival 2009, Victoria Theatre, Halifax 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm each day. We are expecting over 1000 primary school children to take part in this wonderful event to celebrate the fun in singing!

24-29 August 2009 - Yorkshire Youth Choir residential course, YYC members only, venue tbc

29 August 2009 - Yorkshire Youth Choir concert, venue tbc
